The organisers of the World Cyber Arena (WCA) have announced that the event is expanding to CS:GO with a $200,000 tournament to be hosted at this year's global finals.

With CS:GO growing at a fast rate in Asia, the World Cyber Arena - one of the most popular esports events in the region - is looking to capitalise on this trend by running its own tournament this year.

WCA 2016 will consist of three seasons, each one featuring Chinese and international qualifiers. The winners of each season will meet at the world finals, taking place in Yinchuan, in December, where 1.35 million Yuan (~$200,000) will be on offer.

CyberZen, now Vici Gaming, will compete in the WCA qualifiers

The first Chinese qualifier will run from March 15 to May 1, with an online group stage leading up to the offline playoffs. A total of 220,000 Yuan ($33,700) will be on offer in each Chinese qualifier.
